Lord Sri Krsna has appeared in His most merciful form at Purushottam Kshetra- Puri dham, as Lord Jagannath, meaning Lord of the Universe. Befitting His name, the compassion of the Lord pours out in abundance at Puri for every single soul.
Lord Jagannath exemplifies His mercy here in various ways, be it by coming out of His shrine personally during the glorious Rata Yatra Or by being awake round the clock to give darshan to His devotees. The Lord does it all.
When served with humility and devotion, He would accept personal seva even from the tribes of Sabaras. But if pride takes its place then, He would teach even His dear devotee a lesson as in the case of His dear Sudarshan.
Lord Jagannath being “Pathitha Paavan” has His hands extended outΒ ready to accept even most fallen souls. His big round Eyes, without eyelids are wide open, to watch every good deed performed by His devotees and bless them with benedictions.
The Lord is so merciful that one who is fortunate to take His darshan, does not have to take birth again in this material world. The Lord is so magnanimous that He Himself comesΒ out of the shrine to give darshan to those unfortunate souls who are not so fortunate to see Him inside the temple.
When the Lord is on Ratha, being elated, His mercy is magnified by multifold. By partaking in such spiritually magnanimously rewarding Rath Yatra festival, we can all attain the highest purpose of life.
Jai Jagannath
